About

John Weston
I received a bachelor of arts degree with a major in art from the University of Missouri — St. Louis. While in college, I worked for a small general contractor and decided to continue in that field after graduation. I eventually became foreman. In 2010, I decided to start my own business and Evolutionary Habitat LLC was born.

In 2019, after living in St. Louis City for 16 years, I moved with my wife, Jennifer, and our three kids to Wildwood, Missouri. Our move fulfilled our lifelong dream of living in the woods!

In addition to working for other people, we have a history of renovating our own homes. Our first remodel was my grandparents’ bungalow in Webster Groves, which we purchased from my parents. From there, drawn to the architecture of the city, we purchased and renovated a gingerbread-style home in St. Louis Hills. We then moved to the historic Lafayette Square neighborhood, purchasing and renovating one of the oldest homes in the neighborhood — a circa 1865 three-story house built in the federal style. From there we renovated a quintessential Second Empire Lafayette Square home with the requisite mansard roof.

When we made the difficult decision to move out of the city, we figured that our dream to find a home with character — something we had become accustomed to — would go unfulfilled. Much to our surprise, we found a 1985 log cabin to remodel. While the character isn’t what we were expecting, it is oozing with it all the same.
